The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED™) program was originally developed by the United States Green Building Council (USGBC), Department of Energy and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in 1997 and formalized thereafter by USGBC as a guide for sustainable building design.
Since the first guide for sustainable design, LEED has been modified many times over. There are now formalized versions for New Construction (NC), Existing Buildings (EB), Commercial Interiors (CI), Core and Shell (CS), and Homes; with specialized subprograms for buildings such as Hospitals and Schools. LEED-NC is the most common program for sustainable building design in use today.
Regardless whether your project uses LEED NC, EB, CI, CS or any other system, the basic principles are the same. Insuring site considerations, water quality, energy conservation, air quality and even urging owners and designers to go the extra step are all basic principles of LEED.
Tremco fully embraces the ideals in the LEED program and supports the USGBC in its efforts to encourage and mainstream sustainable design.
The sustainable building solutions image highlights Tremco products and how they can contribute to your sustainable design plans. The accompanying chart uses the LEED v4 system to better explain how. For additional information, contact our Technical Services staff who are trained in the fundamentals of LEED and sustainable design.
As part of its commitment to helping promote sustainable design, Tremco has created standard documentation (our "LEED Letters") with all the basic information you will need about our products for whatever LEED system you are using for your project:
In addition, letters explaining specific points in more detail are available if required. For explanation of each section of a "LEED Letter" and FAQs on LEED submittals, click here.
